Holiday Home Tour
Friday, December 9th and Saturday, December 10th
10 am to 4 pm
Collections management is a vocation as well as an avocation for Susan Jorgensen, the Museum's collectoins manager. For years, Susan was part of a holiday home tour in Idaho and now she brings the tradition to Bend.
Susan begins in mid-October, setting up each room in her house with an incredible collection of Christmas decorations: themed trees include rocking horses, vintage glass, Hershey M & Ms, wildlife birds, gingerbread figures, Star Wars, Wizard of Oz, Charlie Brown, Winnie the Pooh, Dr. Seuss, many different cartoon characters, Crayola Crayons and more. Collectible miniatures, Dickens ornaments, and a stairway full of nutcrackers add to the display. Bedrooms are festooned with her handmade holiday quilts and wall hangings are scattered throughout the house. This year, two additional homes have joined the fun for a total of three Christmas themed homes to visit!
Tickets are $5.00 per person, available in advance at the Museum or $6.00 per person, at the door the day of the event. The tour is a benefit for the Des Chutes Historical Museum, Children's Vision Foundation, the Bend Heroes Foundation, and the Williams Syndrome Association. The tour takes place at 21163 Clairaway Avenue, West of 27th, between Reed Market Road and Bear Creek Road. All homes on the tour are just a short walk from one another.
Be sure to leave plenty of time to leisurely enjoy this lovely holiday gift from Susan!
