Family Photograph Scanning Seminar
Saturday, March 20
1:00

Do you need to know how to scan and repair your old family photographs? If so, the Des Chutes Historical Museum on Saturday, March 20, is the place for you!

Curt Lantz, Deschutes County Historical Society and Bend Genealogical Society volunteer, will present a free afternoon seminar on Family Photograph Scanning in the Old Classroom on the first floor of the Des Chutes Historical Museum at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 20.

During this seminar, Curt will talk about equipment, software, and techniques. Then he will take some of the Museum’s “less than perfect” historic photographs and show how they can be repaired and enhanced to near-original condition. Curt will also talk about options in sizing and printing the digital images, including the differences in color and grayscale. Storage and backup of high-value images also will be covered.

Curt will have a computer-scanner-printer setup to show actual results, along with a digital projector to show all the steps on the screen as the process develops.

In addition, Curt has offered to take one photographic print from those attending the seminar and use it to provide a repaired and enhanced digital image on a CD for a donation of $20.00 to the Deschutes County Historical Society.

If you have old family photographs you want to restore and preserve, you won’t want to miss this opportunity to learn how to do it!
