The Des Chutes Historical Center features exhibits that allow you to explore Deschutes County prehistory; area Native American tribal history; early exploration and fur trapping; homesteading the High Desert; logging and Forest Service history; and life in Bend over the years.

Artifacts of the early native inhabitants of the area are on display, as well as some of the explorers of the area.  The carvings seen on this volcanic rock are believed to be done by earlier fur trappers traveling through the area on route to the coast.
