Traveling Historian Program

The Traveling Historian is available to visit your school! Thanks to a grant from the Cascade Heritage Foundation and support from Deschutes Brewery, the Museum is proud to bring our history to elementary schools around the county. Please take a minute to download and read our program information sheet and the pre/post visit guide:

 

School Visits at the Museum

  • Self guided tours are available Tuesday—Friday, 10 am—3pm.
  • Download our Passport self-guided activity! Click HERE for Page 1, and HERE for Page 2.
  • 6 exhibit rooms focus on local history, including a re-creation of a 1916 classroom, artifacts from archaeological sites in the area, lumber mill and forest service displays, and much more!
  • Pre-registration is required, school visits are free with a suggested $20 per class donation.

Research

  • Teachers working on class projects and/or curriculum based research can use the research library for free including access to ancestry.com.
  • Take advantage of the second largest historical photo collection in the state, many are on display in the museum! We offer affordable prices on historical photograph reproductions and historical books that you can purchase to enhance classroom learning.
