Arcadia Publishing’s new pictorial histories Bend and Redmond are now available at the Des Chutes Historical Museum bookstore.
Adapted and revised from the Deschutes County Historical Society’s popular—and now sold out—2005 centennial history Bend: 100 Years of History, this 128-page quality paperback focuses on Bend’s early decades through 200 captioned photographs. While much of the content may be familiar to readers of the original volume, this new book has been partially rewritten and contains historical photographs not in the 2005 book. Authorship appropriately remains with the Deschutes County Historical Society. So, if you didn’t get a copy of Bend: 100 Years of History, you get a second chance at half the price per copy! Even if you did, you’ll want this new version for yourself and to give as gifts. Also available from the same publishers is a set of 15 vintage-photograph post cards featuring historic scenes of Bend and Deschutes County. These cost $7.99, $7.19 for members.
Published in the same format, the new book "Redmond" by Leslie Pugmire and Trish Pinkerton traces the history of Bend’s sister city to the north, and is also available at the Museum bookstore.
